He said to him: Take thy only begotten son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and go into the land of vision: and there thou shalt offer him for a holocaust upon one of the mountains which I will shew thee.


Thou hast proved my heart, and visited it by night, thou hast tried me by fire: and iniquity hath not been found in me.


Whom when the Lord had seen, being moved with mercy towards her, he said to her: Weep not.


NOW there was a certain man sick, named Lazarus, of Bethania, of the town of Mary and Martha her sister.


These things he said; and after that he said to them: Lazarus our friend sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.


(And Mary was she that anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair: whose brother Lazarus was sick.)


Martha therefore said to Jesus: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.


The Jews therefore said: Behold how he loved him.


Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister Mary, and Lazarus.


You call me Master, and Lord; and you say well, for so I am.


Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.


Erastus remained at Corinth. And Trophimus I left sick at Miletus.


Such as I love, I rebuke and chastise. Be zealous therefore, and do penance.
