11 Jesus said this and then added, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I will go and wake him up.”

Gehazi went on ahead and held Elisha's stick over the child, but there was no sound or any other sign of life. So he went back to meet Elisha and said, “The boy didn't wake up.”


You are our God. When your people Israel moved into this land, you drove out the people who were living here and gave the land to the descendants of Abraham, your friend, to be theirs forever.


The Lord would speak with Moses face-to-face, just as someone speaks with a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp. But the young man who was his helper, Joshua son of Nun, stayed in the Tent.


“But you, Israel my servant, you are the people that I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham, my friend.


Many of those who have already died will live again: some will enjoy eternal life, and some will suffer eternal disgrace.

The disciples answered, “If he is asleep, Lord, he will get well.”


Jesus meant that Lazarus had died, but they thought he meant natural sleep.


The sisters sent Jesus a message: “Lord, your dear friend is sick.”


The bridegroom is the one to whom the bride belongs; but the bridegroom's friend, who stands by and listens, is glad when he hears the bridegroom's voice. This is how my own happiness is made complete.


He knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, “Lord! Do not remember this sin against them!” He said this and died.


It would also mean that the believers in Christ who have died are lost.


Come back to your right senses and stop your sinful ways. I declare to your shame that some of you do not know God.

who died for us in order that we might live together with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes.


And the scripture came true that said, “Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.” And so Abraham was called God's friend.
