The Lord knows everything, even what happens in the place of death. So surely the Lord will know what happens in the hearts and minds of people.
Money goes very quickly, as if it grows wings and flies away like a bird.
When a person looks into the water he can see his own face. In the same way, a man’s heart shows what the man is really like.
Words can’t fully explain things. {\cf2\super [3]} But people continue speaking. {\cf2\super [4]} Words come again and again to our ears. But our ears don’t become full. And our eyes don’t become full of the things we see.
A person might not have any family. He might not have a son or even a brother. But that person will continue to work very, very hard. That person is never satisfied with what he has. And he works so hard that he never stops and asks himself, “Why am I working so hard? Why don’t I let myself enjoy my life?” This is also a very bad and senseless thing.
A man works and works. Why? To feed himself. But he is never satisfied.
Then \{they will die and\} Sheol, {\cf2\super [53]} \{the place of death\}, will get more and more people. That \{place of death\} will open her mouth with no limit. And all those people will go down into Sheol.”

\{God said,\} “Wine can trick a person. In the same way, a strong man’s pride can fool him. But he will not find peace. He is like death—he always wants more and more. And, like death, he will never be satisfied. He will continue defeating other nations. He will continue to make those people his prisoners.
The Lord All-Powerful says, “You people look for a big harvest. But when you go to gather the crop, there is only a little grain. So you bring that grain home. And then I \{send a wind that\} blows it all away! Why are these things happening? Why? Because my house is still in ruins while each of you runs home to take care of his own house.
