Jesus heard that John was put in prison. So Jesus went back to Galilee.
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the people that are dead bury their own dead.”
When Jesus was leaving, he saw a man named Matthew. Matthew was sitting at his place for collecting taxes. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Then Matthew stood up and followed Jesus.
The Son of Man {\cf2\super [299]} came to find lost people and save them.”
These things all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan River. This is where John was baptizing {\cf2\super [20]} people.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look, the Lamb of God. {\cf2\super [21]} He takes away the sins of the world!
The next day John was there again. John had two of his followers with him.
These Greek people went to Philip. (Philip was from Bethsaida, in Galilee.) The Greek people said, “Sir, we want to meet Jesus.”
Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.”
This was the first miracle {\cf2\super [36]} that Jesus did. Jesus did this miracle in the town of Cana in Galilee. So Jesus showed his greatness. And his followers believed in him.
Jesus looked up and saw many people coming toward him. Jesus said to Philip, “Where can we buy enough bread for all these people to eat?”
Philip answered, “We would all have to work a month to buy enough bread for each person here to have only a little piece!”
I don’t mean that I am already exactly like God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach that goal and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that. That is the reason Christ made me his.
