I tell you the truth. All these things will happen while people of this time are still living!
Jesus said to them, “Remember when I was with you before? I said that everything written about me must happen—everything written in the law of Moses, the books of the prophets, {\cf2\super [396]} and the Psalms.”
The Word {\cf2\super [6]} (Christ) was full of grace and truth. From him we all received more and more blessings.
So the soldiers said to each other, “We should not tear this into parts \{to divide it\}. We should choose lots {\cf2\super [247]} to see who will get it.” This happened so that it would be like the Scripture {\cf2\super [248]} said:
Later, Jesus knew that everything had been done. To make the Scriptures {\cf2\super [250]} happen he said, “I am thirsty.” {\cf2\super [251]}
These things happened to give full meaning to the Scriptures {\cf2\super [254]} that said: “None of his bones will be broken” {\cf2\super [255]}
The two men said to the apostles, “Men from Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus carried away from you into heaven. He will come back in the same way you saw him go.”
After Jesus told the apostles {\cf2\super [6]} these things, he was lifted up into the sky. While the apostles were watching, Jesus went into a cloud, and they could not see him.
Jesus was lifted up to heaven. Now Jesus is with God, at God’s right side. The Father (God) has now given the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [37]} to Jesus. The Holy Spirit is what God promised to give. So now Jesus is pouring out (giving) that Spirit. This is what you see and hear.
God said that these things would happen. God said through the prophets {\cf2\super [55]} that his Christ {\cf2\super [56]} would suffer and die. I have told you how God made this happen.
I know a man {\cf2\super [43]} in Christ who was taken up to the third heaven. This happened 14 years ago. I don’t know if the man was in his body or out of his body. But God knows.
Christ’s love is greater than any person can ever know. But I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with the fullness of God.
So Jesus is the kind of high priest {\cf2\super [73]} that we need. He is holy. {\cf2\super [74]} He has no sin in him. He is pure and not influenced by sinners. And he is raised above the heavens.
Here is the point of what we are saying: We have a high priest {\cf2\super [76]} like we have been telling you about. That high priest now sits on the right side {\cf2\super [77]} of God’s throne in heaven.
