He then told them, ‘Watch out and be on your guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.’
And he told them, ‘You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God’s sight.
How can you believe, since you accept glory from one another but don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: ‘Fellow Israelites, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness?
Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised #– #but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.
Be sure to return it to him at sunset. Then he will sleep in it and bless you, and this will be counted as righteousness to you before the Lord your God.
For he considered reproach for the sake of Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since he was looking ahead to the reward.
For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.
For God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you demonstrated for his name by serving the saints #– #and by continuing to serve them.
Watch yourselves so that you don’t lose what we have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.
