Jeremiah 22:12
6 Tagairtí Cros

During his reign, Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt  marched up to help the king of Assyria at the River Euphrates. King Josiah went to confront him, and at Megiddo  when Neco saw him he killed him.

Then  Pharaoh Neco made Eliakim  son of Josiah king in place of his father Josiah and changed Eliakim’s name to Jehoiakim.  But Neco took Jehoahaz and went to Egypt, and he died there.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says concerning Jehoiakim  son of Josiah, king of Judah: They will not mourn for him, saying, ‘Woe, my brother! ’ or ‘Woe, my sister! ’ They will not mourn for him, saying, ‘Woe, lord! Woe, his majesty! ’

They will never return to the land they long to return to.’

‘For this is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Just as my anger and fury were poured out on Jerusalem’s residents,  so will my fury pour out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an example for cursing, scorn,  execration, and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.”

You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you.
