I looked up,  and there was a ram  standing beside the canal. He had two horns. The two horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one came up last.

When David looked up and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, with his drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem, David and the elders, covered in sackcloth,  fell face down.


This is what King Cyrus of Persia says: ‘The Lord, the God of the heavens, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and has appointed me to build him a house at Jerusalem in Judah.


They also bribed officials to act against them to frustrate their plans  throughout the reign of King Cyrus of Persia and until the reign of King Darius of Persia.


He held a feast  in the third year of his reign for all his officials and staff, the army of Persia and Media,  the nobles,  and the officials from the provinces.


Look! I am stirring up the Medes against them, who cannot be bought off with   silver and who have no desire for gold.


A troubling vision is declared to me: ‘The treacherous one acts treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Advance, Elam! Lay siege, you Medes! I will put an end to all the groaning.’


who says to Cyrus,  ‘My shepherd, he will fulfil all my pleasure’ and says to Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ and of the temple, ‘Its foundation will be laid.’


Sharpen the arrows! Fill the quivers! The Lord has roused the spirit of the kings of the Medes because his plan is aimed at Babylon to destroy her, for it is the  Lord’s vengeance, vengeance for his temple.


I looked up, and there was a man dressed in linen,  with a belt of gold  from Uphaz  , round his waist.


‘After you, there will arise another kingdom, inferior to yours, and then another, a third kingdom, of bronze, which will rule the whole earth.


and Darius the Mede  received the kingdom at the age of sixty-two.


So Daniel prospered  during the reign of Darius and  the reign of Cyrus the Persian.


‘Suddenly, another beast appeared, a second one, that looked like a bear.  It was raised up on one side, with three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, “Get up! Gorge yourself on flesh.”


I saw the vision, and as I watched, I was in the fortress city of Susa,  in the province of Elam.  I saw in the vision that I was beside the Ulai Canal.


The two-horned ram  that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia.


Then I looked up and saw four horns.


I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.


I looked up again and saw a flying scroll.


Then the angel who was speaking with me came forward and told me, ‘Look up and see what this is that is approaching.’


Then I looked up and saw two women approaching with the wind in their wings. Their wings were like those of a stork,  and they lifted up the basket between earth and sky.


Then I looked up again and saw four chariots coming from between two mountains. The mountains were made of bronze.


When Balaam looked up and saw Israel camped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God  came on him,


When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand.  Joshua approached him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies? ’


Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb,  , but it spoke like a dragon.


Then I saw one like a slaughtered lamb  standing in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God  sent into all the earth.
