King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet King Tiglath-pileser  of Assyria. When he saw the altar that was in Damascus, King Ahaz sent a model of the altar and complete plans for its construction to the priest Uriah.

In the days of King Pekah of Israel, King Tiglath-pileser  of Assyria came and captured Ijon,  Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee #– #all the land of Naphtali   #– #and deported the people to Assyria.


Uriah built the altar according to all the instructions King Ahaz sent from Damascus. Therefore, by the time King Ahaz came back from Damascus, the priest Uriah had completed it.


He built altars in the Lord’s temple,  where the Lord had said, ‘Jerusalem is where I will put my name.’


David concluded, ‘By the Lord’s hand on me, he enabled me to understand everything in writing, all the details of the plan.’


And Moses wrote  down all the words of the Lord. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain.


Moses inspected all the work they had accomplished. They had done just as the Lord commanded. Then Moses blessed them.


I have appointed  trustworthy witnesses #– #the priest Uriah and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.’

and they will be ashamed of all that they have done. Reveal  the design of the temple to them #– #its layout with its exits and entrances   #– #its complete design along with all its statutes, design specifications, and laws. Write it down in their sight  so that they may observe its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them out.


Whenever they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they were defiling my holy name by the detestable acts they committed.  So I destroyed them in my anger.


Because they ministered to the house of Israel before their idols and became a sinful stumbling block to them, therefore I swore an oath  against them’   #– #this is the declaration of the Lord God  #– #‘that they would bear the consequences of their iniquity.

They worship me in vain, eaching as doctrines human commands.’   ,


Do not be conformed  to this age,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will  of God.


be careful not to be ensnared by their ways  after they have been destroyed before you. Do not enquire about their gods, asking, “How did these nations worship their gods? I’ll also do the same.”


We thought that if they said this to us or to our generations in the future, we would reply: Look at the replica of the Lord’s altar that our ancestors made, not for burnt offering or sacrifice, but as a witness between us and you.


For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life  inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
