Psalm 30

¹ Lord, you lifted me up out of my troubles.\par You did not let my enemies \{defeat me\par and\} laugh at me.\par So I will show honor to you.\par

² Lord my God, I prayed to you.\par And you healed me.\par

³ You lifted me out of the grave.\par You let me live.\par I did not have to stay with the dead people\par lying in the pit. {\cf2\super [181]} \par

⁴ God’s followers, sing praises to the Lord!\par Praise his holy name! {\cf2\super [182]} \par

⁵ God was angry,\par so the decision was “death.”\par But he showed his love,\par and gave me “life.”\par At night,\par I lay crying.\par The next morning,\par I was happy and singing!\par

⁶ When I was safe and secure,\par I thought nothing could hurt me!\par

⁷ Yes, Lord, while you were kind to me,\par I felt like nothing could defeat me! {\cf2\super [183]} \par But when you turned away from me,\par I became scared and shook with fear.\par

⁸ So God, I turned and prayed to you.\par I asked you to show mercy to me.\par

⁹ I said, “God, what good is it if I die\par and go down into the grave?\par Dead people just lie in the dirt!\par They don’t praise you.\par They don’t tell people\par how much we can depend on you.\par

¹⁰ Lord, hear my prayer and be kind to me!\par Lord, help me!”\par

¹¹ \{I prayed and you helped me!\}\par You changed my crying into dancing.\par You took away my clothes of sadness.\par And you wrapped me in happiness.\par

¹² Lord, my God, I will praise you forever,\par so there will never be silence,\par and there will always be someone\par singing songs to honor you.\par
