Psalm 10

¹ Lord, why do you stay so far away?\par People with troubles can’t see you.\par

² Proud and wicked people make evil plans.\par And they hurt poor people.\par

³ Evil people brag about the things they want.\par And those greedy people curse God.\par In this way, the evil people show that\par they hate the Lord.\par

⁴ Bad people are too proud to follow God.\par They make all their evil plans.\par And they act like there is no God.\par

⁵ Bad people are always doing\par crooked things.\par They don’t even notice God’s laws\par and wise teachings. {\cf2\super [55]} \par God’s enemies ignore \{his teachings\}.\par

⁶ Those people think bad things will never happen to them.\par \{They say,\}\par “We will have fun and never be punished.”\par

⁷ Those people are always cursing.\par They are always saying bad things about other people.\par They are always planning evil things to do.\par

⁸ Those people hide in secret places\par and wait to catch people.\par They hide, looking for people to hurt.\par They kill innocent people.\par

⁹ Those bad people are like lions trying to catch the animals they will eat.\par They attack poor people.\par The poor people are caught in the traps that the evil people make.\par

¹⁰ Again and again, those bad people hurt poor, hurting people.\par

¹¹ So those poor people begin thinking,\par “God has forgotten us!\par He has turned away from us forever!\par God doesn’t see what is happening to us!”\par

¹² Lord, get up and do something!\par God, punish those bad people!\par Don’t forget the poor people!\par

¹³ Why do bad people turn against God?\par Because they think he won’t punish them.\par

¹⁴ \{Lord,\} surely you see the cruel and evil things\par that bad people do.\par Look at those things,\par and do something!\par People with many troubles\par come to you for help.\par Lord, you are the One who helps orphans. {\cf2\super [56]} \par \{So help them!\}\par

¹⁵ \{Lord,\} destroy the evil people.\par

¹⁶ Remove those people from your land!\par

¹⁷ Lord, you heard what poor people want.\par Listen to their prayers\par and do what they ask!\par

¹⁸ Lord, protect the children without parents.\par Don’t let sad people suffer more troubles.\par Make bad people too afraid to stay here.\par
