My son,ifyou will receivemy wordsAnd treasuremy commandmentswithinyou,
Makeyour earattentiveto wisdom,Inclineyour heartto understanding;
For ifyou cryfor discernment,Liftyour voicefor understanding;
Ifyou seekher as silverAnd searchfor her as for hiddentreasures;
Thenyou will discernthe fearof the LORDAnd discoverthe knowledgeof God.
For the LORDgiveswisdom;From His mouth[come] knowledgeand understanding.
He storesup soundwisdomfor the upright;[He is] a shieldto those who walkin integrity,
Guardingthe pathsof justice,And He preservesthe wayof His godlyones.
Thenyou will discernrighteousnessand justiceAnd equity[and] everygoodcourse.
For wisdomwill enteryour heartAnd knowledgewill be pleasantto your soul;
Discretionwill guardyou, Understandingwill watchover you,
To deliveryou from the wayof evil,From the manwho speaksperversethings;
From those who leavethe pathsof uprightnessTo walkin the waysof darkness;
Whodelightin doingevilAnd rejoicein the perversityof evil;
Whosepathsare crooked,And who are deviousin their ways;
To deliveryou from the strangewoman,From the adulteresswho flatterswith her words;
That leavesthe companionof her youthAnd forgetsthe covenantof her God;
For her housesinksdownto deathAnd her tracks[lead] to the dead;
Nonewho goto her returnagain, Nordo they reachthe pathsof life.
Soyou will walkin the wayof goodmenAnd keepto the pathsof the righteous.
For the uprightwill livein the landAnd the blamelesswill remainin it;
But the wickedwill be cutofffrom the landAnd the treacherouswill be uprootedfrom it.
