sound[in] speechwhich is beyond reproach,sothat the opponentwill be put to shame,havingnothingbadto sayaboutus.
Again I said,"The thingwhichyou are doingis not good;should you not walkin the fearof our Godbecauseof the reproachof the nations,our enemies?
Hearthe wordof the LORD,you whotrembleat His word:"Your brotherswho hateyou, who excludeyou for My name'ssake,Have said,'Let the LORDbe glorified,that we may seeyour joy.'But they will be putto shame.
And Jesussaidto them, "Renderto Caesarthe things that are Caesar's,and to Godthe things that are God's."And they were amazedat Him.
Oneof the scribescameand heardthem arguing,and recognizingthat He had answeredthem well,askedHim, "Whatcommandmentis the foremostof all?"
The scribesaidto Him, "Right,Teacher;You have trulystatedthat HE IS ONE,AND THERE IS NOONE ELSEBESIDESHIM;
When Jesussawthat he had answeredintelligently,He saidto him, "You are not farfrom the kingdomof God."After that, no onewould ventureto askHim any morequestions.
As He saidthis,allHis opponentswere being humiliated;and the entirecrowdwas rejoicingoverallthe glorious thingsbeing doneby Him.
Ifanyonedoes not obeyour instructionin thisletter,take special noteof that personand do not associatewith him, sothat he will be put to shame.
Therefore,I wantyounger[widows] to get married,bear children,keep house,[and] givethe enemynooccasionfor reproach;
Ifanyoneadvocates a different doctrineand does not agreewith soundwords,thoseof our LordJesusChrist,and with the doctrineconformingto godliness,
Our peoplemust alsolearnto engagein gooddeedsto meet pressingneeds,sothat they will not be unfruitful.
Keepyour behaviorexcellentamongthe Gentiles,sothat in the thing in whichthey slanderyou as evildoers,they may becauseof your gooddeeds,as they observe[them], glorifyGodin the dayof visitation.
For suchis the willof Godthat by doing rightyou may silencethe ignoranceof foolishmen.
and keepa goodconsciencesothat in the thing in whichyou are slandered,thosewho revileyour goodbehaviorin Christwill be put to shame.
