I amunder obligationbothto Greeksand to barbarians,bothto the wiseand to the foolish.
[a renewal] in whichthereis no[distinction between] Greekand Jew,circumcisedand uncircumcised,barbarian,Scythian,slaveand freeman,but Christis all,and in all.
But the Lordsaidto him, "Go,for he is a choseninstrumentof Mine,to bearMy namebeforethe Gentilesand kingsand the sonsof Israel;
"And He saidto me, 'Go!For I will sendyou farawayto the Gentiles.'"
Be of the samemindtowardone another;do not be haughtyin mind,but associatewith the lowly.Do not be wisein your own estimation.
For you, being[so] wise,toleratethe foolishgladly.
For the report of your obediencehas reachedto all;thereforeI am rejoicingoveryou, but I wantyou to be wisein what is goodand innocentin what is evil.
Owenothingto anyoneexceptto loveone another;for he who loveshis neighborhas fulfilled[the] law.
So then,brethren,we are under obligation,not to the flesh,to liveaccordingto the flesh--
Professingto be wise,they became fools,
A highwaywill be there,a roadway,And it will be calledthe Highwayof Holiness.The uncleanwill not travelon it, But it [will] be for him who walks[that] way,And foolswill not wander[on it].
For we alsooncewere foolishourselves,disobedient,deceived,enslavedto variouslustsand pleasures,spending our lifein maliceand envy,hateful,hatingone another.
For thisreasonI endureall thingsfor the sakeof thosewho are chosen,sothat they alsomay obtainthe salvationwhich is in ChristJesus[and] with [it] eternalglory.
For we are not boldto classorcompareourselveswith someof thosewho commendthemselves;but when they measurethemselvesby themselvesand comparethemselveswith themselves,they are withoutunderstanding.
Otherwiseifyou blessin the spirit[only], howwill the one who fillsthe placeof the ungiftedsaythe "Amen"at your giving of thanks,sincehe does not knowwhatyou are saying?
IfthenI do not knowthe meaningof the language,I will be to the one who speaksa barbarian,and the one who speakswill be a barbarianto me.
Let no mandeceivehimself.Ifany manamongyou thinksthat he is wisein thisage,he must becomefoolish,sothat he may becomewise.
whichthings we alsospeak,not in wordstaughtby humanwisdom,but in those taughtby the Spirit,combiningspiritual[thoughts] with spiritual[words].
For I do not wantyou, brethren,to be uninformedof thismystery--sothat you will not be wisein your own estimation--that a partialhardeninghas happenedto Israeluntilthe fullnessof the Gentileshas comein;
Whenthe nativessawthe creaturehangingfrom his hand,they [began] sayingto one another,"Undoubtedlythismanis a murderer,and though he has been savedfrom the sea,justicehas not allowedhim to live."
The nativesshowedus extraordinarykindness;for becauseof the rainthat had setin and becauseof the cold,they kindleda fireand receivedus all.
At that verytimeHe rejoiced greatlyin the HolySpirit,and said,"I praiseYou, O Father,Lordof heavenand earth,that You have hiddenthese thingsfrom [the] wiseand intelligentand have revealedthem to infants.Yes,Father,for this waywas well-pleasingin Your sight.
At that timeJesussaid,"I praiseYou, Father,Lordof heavenand earth,that You have hiddenthese thingsfrom [the] wiseand intelligentand have revealedthem to infants.
"O naiveones,understandprudence;And, O fools,understandwisdom.
"Howlong,O naiveones,will you lovebeing simple-minded?And scoffersdelightthemselves in scoffingAnd foolshateknowledge?
