Now the serpentwas morecraftythananybeastof the fieldwhichthe LORDGodhad made.And he saidto the woman,"Indeed,has Godsaid,'You shall not eatfrom anytreeof the garden'?"
The cordsof deathencompassedme, And the torrentsof ungodlinessterrifiedme.
Who stillsthe roaringof the seas,The roaringof their waves,And the tumultof the peoples.
Behold,the Lordhas a strongand mighty[agent]; As a stormof hail,a tempestof destruction,Like a stormof mightyoverflowingwaters,He has cast[it] downto the earthwith [His] hand.
So they will fearthe nameof the LORDfrom the westAnd His gloryfrom the risingof the sun,For He will comelike a rushingstreamWhich the windof the LORDdrives.
"Now therefore,behold,the Lordis about to bringon them the strongand abundantwatersof the Euphrates,[Even] the kingof Assyriaand allhis glory;And it will riseup overallits channelsand gooverallits banks.
But I am afraidthat, as the serpentdeceivedEveby his craftiness,your mindswill be led astrayfrom the simplicityand purity[of devotion] to Christ.
But the earthhelpedthe woman,and the earthopenedits mouthand drankup the riverwhichthe dragonpouredout of his mouth.
And the greatdragonwas throwndown, the serpentof oldwho is calledthe deviland Satan,who deceivesthe wholeworld;he was throwndown to the earth,and his angelswere throwndown with him.
And he saidto me, "The waterswhichyou sawwherethe harlotsits,are peoplesand multitudesand nationsand tongues.
