He tookup his discourseand said,"From AramBalakhas broughtme, Moab'skingfrom the mountainsof the East,ComecurseJacobfor me, And come,denounceIsrael!'
becausethey did not meetyou with foodand wateron the waywhen you cameout of Egypt,and becausethey hiredagainstyou Balaamthe sonof Beorfrom Pethorof Mesopotamia,to curseyou.
He tookup his discourseand said,"The oracleof Balaamthe sonof Beor,And the oracleof the manwhose eyeis opened;
Then he tookup his discourseand said,"Arise,O Balak,and hear;Giveearto me, O sonof Zippor!
"On that daythey will takeup againstyou a tauntAnd uttera bitterlamentation[and] say,'We are completelydestroyed!He exchangesthe portionof my people;HowHe removesit from me! To the apostateHe apportionsour fields.'
I will openmy mouthin a parable;I will utterdarksayingsof old,
And Jobagaintookup his discourseand said,
Then he tookup his discourseand said,"Alas,whocan liveexcept Godhas ordainedit?
He tookup his discourseand said,"The oracleof Balaamthe sonof Beor,And the oracleof the manwhose eyeis opened,
And they were seekingto seizeHim, and [yet] they fearedthe people,for they understoodthat He spokethe parableagainstthem. And [so] they leftHim and went away.
He spokeanotherparableto them, "The kingdomof heavenis likeleaven,whicha womantookand hidin threepecksof flouruntilit was allleavened."
Like a sparrowin [its] flitting,like a swallowin [its] flying,Soa cursewithoutcausedoes not alight.
Then Jobcontinuedhis discourseand said,
and afterhim was Eleazarthe sonof Dodothe Ahohite,one of the threemightymenwith Davidwhen they defiedthe Philistineswho were gatheredthereto battleand the menof Israelhad withdrawn.
[This was] to fulfillwhatwas spokenthroughthe prophet:"I WILL OPENMY MOUTHIN PARABLES;I WILL UTTERTHINGS HIDDENSINCETHE FOUNDATIONOF THE WORLD."
"Will not allof thesetakeup a taunt-songagainsthim, Even mockery[and] insinuationsagainst him And say,Woeto him who increaseswhat is not his-- For howlong--And makeshimself richwith loans?'
Then I said,"AhLordGOD!They are sayingof me, 'Is he not [just] speakingparables?'"
"Sonof man,propounda riddleand speaka parableto the houseof Israel,
When he defiedIsrael,Jonathanthe sonof Shimei,David'sbrother,struckhim down.
Then Davidsaidto the Philistine,"You cometo me with a sword,a spear,and a javelin,but I cometo you in the nameof the LORDof hosts,the Godof the armiesof Israel,whomyou have taunted.
"Your servanthas killedboththe lionand the bear;and thisuncircumcisedPhilistinewill be like oneof them, sincehe has tauntedthe armiesof the livingGod."
Again the Philistinesaid,"I defythe ranksof Israelthisday;giveme a manthat we may fighttogether."
And he lookedat the Kenite,and tookup his discourseand said,"Your dwellingplaceis enduring,And your nestis setin the cliff.
for I will indeedhonoryou richly,and I will dowhateveryou sayto me. Pleasecomethen, cursethispeoplefor me.'"
Behold,there is a peoplewho cameout of Egyptand they coverthe surfaceof the land;nowcome,cursethem for me; perhapsI may be ableto fightagainst them and drivethem out.'"
and that Jacobhad obeyedhis fatherand his motherand had goneto Paddan-aram.
"Arise,goto Paddan-aram,to the houseof Bethuelyour mother'sfather;and from theretaketo yourself a wifefrom the daughtersof Labanyour mother'sbrother.
The sonsof Shem[were] Elamand Asshurand Arpachshadand Ludand Aram.
So he returnedto him, and behold,he was standingbesidehis burntoffering,he and allthe leadersof Moab.
