Also Jeshua,Bani,Sherebiah,Jamin,Akkub,Shabbethai,Hodiah,Maaseiah,Kelita,Azariah,Jozabad,Hanan,Pelaiah,the Levites,explainedthe lawto the peoplewhile the people[remained] in their place.
Then the kingfacedaboutand blessedallthe assemblyof Israel,while allthe assemblyof Israelwas standing.
Then Hezekiahspokeencouraginglyto allthe Leviteswho showedgoodinsight[in the things] of the LORD.So they atefor the appointedsevendays,sacrificingpeaceofferingsand givingthanksto the LORDGodof their fathers.
He also saidto the Leviteswho taughtallIsrael[and] who were holyto the LORD,"Putthe holyarkin the housewhichSolomonthe sonof Davidkingof Israelbuilt;it will be a burdenon [your] shouldersnolonger. Nowservethe LORDyour Godand His peopleIsrael.
According to the goodhandof our Godupon us they broughtus a manof insightof the sonsof Mahli,the sonof Levi,the sonof Israel,namely Sherebiah,and his sonsand brothers,18men;
Hodiah,Hashum,Bezai,
Seraiah,Azariah,Jeremiah,
and Shabbethaiand Jozabad,from the leadersof the Levites,who were in chargeof the outsideworkof the houseof God;
Also the gatekeepers,Akkub,Talmonand their brethrenwho keptwatchat the gates,[were] 172
with Azariah,Ezra,Meshullam,
Afterhim the Levitescarriedout repairs[under] Rehumthe sonof Bani.Nextto him Hashabiah,the officialof halfthe districtof Keilah,carriedout repairsfor his district.
Nextto him Ezerthe sonof Jeshua,the officialof Mizpah,repairedanothersectionin frontof the ascentof the armoryat the Angle.
Afterthem Benjaminand Hasshubcarriedout repairsin frontof their house.Afterthem Azariahthe sonof Maaseiah,sonof Ananiah,carriedout repairsbesidehis house.
Allthe peoplewentaway to eat,to drink,to sendportionsand to celebratea greatfestival,becausethey understoodthe wordswhichhad been madeknownto them.
Ezrathe scribestoodat a woodenpodiumwhichthey had madefor the purpose.And besidehim stoodMattithiah,Shema,Anaiah,Uriah,Hilkiah,and Maaseiahon his righthand;and Pedaiah,Mishael,Malchijah,Hashum,Hashbaddanah,Zechariah[and] Meshullamon his lefthand.
Then Ezrablessedthe LORDthe greatGod.And allthe peopleanswered,"Amen,Amen!"while liftingup their hands;then they bowedlowand worshipedthe LORDwith [their] facesto the ground.
They readfrom the book,from the lawof God,translatingto givethe senseso that they understoodthe reading.
While they stoodin their place,they readfrom the bookof the lawof the LORDtheir Godfor a fourthof the day;and for [another] fourththey confessedand worshipedthe LORDtheir God.
Now on the Levites'platformstoodJeshua,Bani,Kadmiel,Shebaniah,Bunni,Sherebiah,Bani[and] Chenani,and they criedwith a loudvoiceto the LORDtheir God.
and so as to teachthe sonsof Israelallthe statuteswhichthe LORDhas spokento them throughMoses."
"For the lipsof a priestshould preserveknowledge,and men should seekinstructionfrom his mouth;for he is the messengerof the LORDof hosts.
"They shall teachYour ordinancesto Jacob,And Your lawto Israel.They shall putincensebeforeYou, And wholeburntofferingson Your altar.
