Jeshuabecamethe fatherof Joiakim,and Joiakimbecamethe fatherof Eliashib,and Eliashibbecamethe father of Joiada,
The priestsand the Levitespurifiedthemselves; they also purifiedthe people,the gatesand the wall.
and abovethe Gateof Ephraim,by the OldGate,by the FishGate,the Towerof Hananeland the Towerof the Hundred,as faras the SheepGate;and they stoppedat the Gateof the Guard.
Even one of the sonsof Joiada,the sonof Eliashibthe highpriest,was a son-in-lawof Sanballatthe Horonite,so I drovehim awayfrom me.
Now priorto this,Eliashibthe priest,who was appointedover the chambersof the houseof our God,being relatedto Tobiah,
Afterhim Baruchthe sonof Zabbaizealouslyrepairedanothersection,from the Angleto the doorwayof the houseof Eliashibthe highpriest.
Afterhim Meremoththe sonof Uriahthe sonof Hakkozrepairedanothersection,from the doorwayof Eliashib'shouseeven as faras the endof his house.
Betweenthe upperroomof the cornerand the SheepGatethe goldsmithsand the merchantscarriedout repairs.
Now whenit was reportedto Sanballat,Tobiah,to Geshemthe Araband to the restof our enemiesthat I had rebuiltthe wall,and [that] nobreachremainedin it, althoughat that timeI had not setup the doorsin the gates,
Now whenthe wallwas rebuiltand I had setup the doors,and the gatekeepersand the singersand the Leviteswere appointed,
I will extolYou, O LORD,for You have liftedme up, And have not let my enemiesrejoiceover me.
WalkaboutZionand goaroundher; Counther towers;
In allyour waysacknowledgeHim, And He will makeyour pathsstraight.
Honorthe LORDfrom your wealthAnd from the firstof allyour produce;
"Behold,daysare coming,"declaresthe LORD,"when the citywill be rebuiltfor the LORDfrom the Towerof Hananelto the CornerGate.
"So you are to knowand discern[that] from the issuingof a decreeto restoreand rebuildJerusalemuntilMessiahthe Prince[there will be] sevenweeksand sixty-twoweeks;it will be builtagain,with plazaand moat,even in timesof distress.
Allthe landwill be changedinto a plainfrom Gebato Rimmonsouthof Jerusalem;but Jerusalem will riseand remainon its sitefrom Benjamin'sGateas faras the placeof the FirstGateto the CornerGate,and from the Towerof Hananelto the king'swinepresses.
Nowthere is in Jerusalemby the sheep[gate] a pool,which is calledin HebrewBethesda,havingfiveporticoes.
"The officersalso shall speakto the people,saying,'Whois the manthat has builta newhouseand has not dedicatedit? Let him departand returnto his house,otherwisehe might diein the battleand anothermanwould dedicateit.
