For they would comeup with their livestockand their tents,they would comein like locustsfor number,both they and their camelswere innumerable;and they cameinto the landto devastateit.
"I am blackbut lovely,O daughtersof Jerusalem,Like the tentsof Kedar,Like the curtainsof Solomon.
It will neverbe inhabitedor livedin from generationto generation;Norwill the Arabpitch[his] tentthere,Norwill shepherdsmake [their flocks] liedownthere.
"A multitudeof camelswill coveryou, The youngcamelsof Midianand Ephah;Allthose from Shebawill come;They will bringgoldand frankincense,And will beargood newsof the praisesof the LORD.
"They have cutdownher forest,"declaresthe LORD;"Surelyit will no[more] be found,Even thoughthey are [now] morenumerousthanlocustsAnd are withoutnumber.
"They will takeaway their tentsand their flocks;They will carryofffor themselves Their tentcurtains,alltheir goodsand their camels,And they will callout to one another, 'Terroron everyside!'
"Their camelswill becomeplunder,And their manycattlefor booty,And I will scatterto allthe windsthose who cutthe corners[of their hair]; And I will bringtheir disasterfrom everyside,"declaresthe LORD.
The LORDof hostshas swornby Himself:"SurelyI will fillyou with a populationlike locusts,And they will cryout with shoutsof victory overyou."
"A peoplewhomyou do not knowshall eatup the produceof your groundand allyour labors,and you will neverbe anythingbut oppressedand crushedcontinually.
Now the Midianitesand the Amalekitesand allthe sonsof the eastwere lyingin the valleyas numerousas locusts;and their camelswere withoutnumber,as numerousas the sandon the seashore.
