Josephrememberedthe dreamswhichhe hadabout them, and saidto them, "You are spies;you have cometo lookat the undefendedpartsof our land."
Prepareplansby consultation,And makewarby wiseguidance.
When Mosessentthem to spyout the landof Canaan,he saidto them, "Goup thereinto the Negev;then goup into the hillcountry.
"Orwhatking,when he setsout to meetanotherkingin battle,will not firstsit downand considerwhetherhe is strong enoughwith tenthousand[men] to encounterthe one comingagainsthim with twentythousand?

The territoryof their inheritancewas Zorahand Eshtaoland Ir-shemesh,
Then Joshuathe sonof Nunsenttwomenas spiessecretlyfrom Shittim,saying,"Go,viewthe land,especiallyJericho."So they wentand cameinto the houseof a harlotwhose namewas Rahab,and lodgedthere.
It was toldthe kingof Jericho,saying,"Behold,menfrom the sonsof Israelhave comeheretonightto searchout the land."
There was a certainmanof Zorah,of the familyof the Danites,whose namewas Manoah;and his wifewas barrenand had borneno[children].
And the Spiritof the LORDbeganto stirhim in Mahaneh-dan,betweenZorahand Eshtaol.
Then his brothersand allhis father'shouseholdcamedown,tookhim, broughthim up and buriedhim betweenZorahand Eshtaolin the tombof Manoahhis father.Thus he had judgedIsraeltwentyyears.
Now there was a manof the hillcountryof Ephraimwhose namewas Micah.
Then from the familyof the Danites,from Zorahand from Eshtaol,sixhundredmenarmedwith weaponsof warsetout.
They passedfrom thereto the hillcountryof Ephraimand cameto the houseof Micah.
When they were nearthe houseof Micah,they recognizedthe voiceof the youngman,the Levite;and they turnedasidethereand saidto him, "Whobroughtyou here?And whatare you doingin this[place]? And whatdo you have here?"
When they cameback to their brothersat Zorahand Eshtaol,their brotherssaidto them, "What[do] you [report]?"
Now it cameabout in thosedays,when therewas nokingin Israel,that there was a certainLevitestayingin the remotepartof the hillcountryof Ephraim,who tooka concubinefor himself from Bethlehemin Judah.
He saidto him, "We are passingfrom Bethlehemin Judahto the remotepartof the hillcountryof Ephraim,[for] I am from there,and I wentto Bethlehemin Judah.But I am [now] goingto my house,and nomanwill takeme into his house.
