Then the Philistinessaid,"Whodidthis?"And they said,"Samson,the son-in-lawof the Timnite,becausehe tookhis wifeand gaveher to his companion."So the Philistinescameup and burnedher and her fatherwith fire.
He who sowsiniquitywill reapvanity,And the rodof his furywill perish.
[and] that noman transgressand defraudhis brotherin the matterbecausethe Lordis [the] avengerin allthese things,justas we alsotold you beforeand solemnly warned[you].
Then the menof Ephraimwere summoned,and they crossedto Zaphonand saidto Jephthah,"Whydid you crossoverto fightagainst the sonsof Ammonwithoutcallingus to gowith you? We will burnyour housedown on you."
Then it cameabout on the fourthdaythat they saidto Samson'swife,"Enticeyour husband,so that he will tellus the riddle,orwe will burnyou and your father'shousewith fire.Have you invitedus to impoverishus? Is this not [so]?"
When he had setfireto the torches,he releasedthe foxes into the standinggrainof the Philistines,thus burningup boththe shocksand the standinggrain,alongwith the vineyards[and] groves.
Samsonsaidto them, "Sinceyou actlike this,I will surelytakerevengeon you, but afterthat I will quit."
