IfI sin,then You would takenoteof me, And would not acquitme of my guilt.
"I will sayto God,Do not condemnme; Let me knowwhyYou contendwith me.
That You should seekfor my guiltAnd searchafter my sin?
"For You writebitterthingsagainstme And make me to inheritthe iniquitiesof my youth.
"For nowYou numbermy steps,You do not observemy sin.
"Is not your wickednessgreat,And your iniquitieswithoutend?
"For my groaningcomesat the sightof my food,And my criespourout like water.
"Have I coveredmy transgressionslike Adam,By hidingmy iniquityin my bosom,
"He will singto menand say,I have sinnedand pervertedwhatis right,And it is not properfor me.
I am pure,withouttransgression;I am innocentand there is noguiltin me.
"For you say,Whatadvantagewill it be to You? Whatprofitwill I have, morethanif I had sinned?'
"Ifyou have sinned,whatdo you accomplishagainst Him? And if your transgressionsare many,whatdo you doto Him?
"For the arrowsof the Almightyare withinme, Their poisonmy spiritdrinks;The terrorsof Godare arrayedagainst me.
For You will makethem turntheir back;You will aimwith Your bowstringsat their faces.
Your righteousnessis like the mountainsof God;Your judgmentsare [like] a greatdeep.O LORD,You preservemanand beast.
O LORDGod[of] hosts,Howlongwill You be angrywith the prayerof Your people?
He bentHis bowAnd setme as a targetfor the arrow.
