Is it rightfor You indeedto oppress,To rejectthe laborof Your hands,And to lookfavorablyon the schemesof the wicked?
"He makes priestswalkbarefootAnd overthrowsthe secureones.
"He pourscontempton noblesAnd loosensthe beltof the strong.
"He will surelyreproveyou Ifyou secretlyshowpartiality.
"Will you showpartialityfor Him? Will you contendfor God?
"Did not He who mademe in the wombmakehim, And the sameonefashionus in the womb?
"Let me nowbe partialto noone,Norflatter[any] man.
Who saysto a king,'Worthlessone,'To nobles,'Wickedones';
"Will your richeskeepyou from distress,Or allthe forcesof [your] strength?
"The richshall not paymoreand the poorshall not paylessthanthe halfshekel,when you givethe contributionto the LORDto makeatonementfor yourselves.
He who oppressesthe poortauntshis Maker,But he who is graciousto the needyhonorsHim.
The richand the poorhavea commonbond,The LORDis the makerof them all.
Ifyou seeoppressionof the poorand denialof justiceand righteousnessin the province,do not be shockedat the sight;for one officialwatchesoveranother official,and there are higherofficialsoverthem.
The LORDentersinto judgmentwith the eldersand princesof His people,"It is you who have devouredthe vineyard;The plunderof the pooris in your houses.
You shall donoinjusticein judgment;you shall not be partialto the poornordeferto the great,but you are to judgeyour neighborfairly.
Openinghis mouth,Petersaid:"I mostcertainlyunderstand[now] that Godis not one to show partiality,
For there is nopartialitywith God.
and the base thingsof the worldand the despisedGodhas chosen,the things that are not, sothat He may nullifythe things that are,
But from thosewho were of highreputation(whatthey were makesnodifferenceto me; Godshowsnopartiality)--well,thosewho were of reputationcontributednothingto me.
And masters,dothe samethingsto them, and giveup threatening,knowingthat boththeir Masterand yoursis in heaven,and there is nopartialitywith Him.
"For the LORDyour Godis the Godof godsand the Lordof lords,the great,the mighty,and the awesomeGodwhodoes not showpartialitynortakea bribe.
For he who doeswrongwill receivethe consequences of the wrongwhichhe has done,and that withoutpartiality.
Therefore,since we receivea kingdomwhich cannot be shaken,let us showgratitude,by whichwe may offerto Godan acceptableservicewith reverenceand awe;
Listen,my belovedbrethren:did not Godchoosethe poorof thisworld[to be] richin faithand heirsof the kingdomwhichHe promisedto thosewho loveHim?
Ifyou addressas Fatherthe One who impartiallyjudgesaccordingto each one'swork,conductyourselves in fearduring the timeof your stay[on earth];
