Then their fatherIsraelsaidto them, "If[it must be] so,thendothis:takesomeof the bestproductsof the landin your bags,and carrydownto the manas a present,a littlebalmand a littlehoney,aromaticgumand myrrh,pistachionutsand almonds.
"Comedownand sitin the dust,O virgindaughterof Babylon;Siton the groundwithouta throne,O daughterof the Chaldeans!For you shall nolongerbe calledtenderand delicate.
"You will saythiswordto them, 'Let my eyesflowdownwith tearsnightand day,And let them not cease;For the virgindaughterof my peoplehas been crushedwith a mightyblow,With a sorelyinfectedwound.
"Setup for yourself roadmarks,Placefor yourself guideposts;Directyour mindto the highway,The wayby which you went.Return,O virginof Israel,Returnto theseyour cities.
"AgainI will buildyou and you will be rebuilt,O virginof Israel!Againyou will takeup your tambourines,And goforthto the dancesof the merrymakers.
SuddenlyBabylonhas fallenand been broken;Wailoverher! Bringbalmfor her pain;Perhapsshe may be healed.
Is therenobalmin Gilead?Is therenophysicianthere?Whythenhas not the healthof the daughterof my peoplebeen restored?
"Judahand the landof Israel,they were your traders;with the wheatof Minnith,cakes,honey,oiland balmthey paidfor your merchandise.
