Then they made their sonsand their daughterspassthrough the fire,and practiceddivinationand enchantments,and soldthemselves to doevilin the sightof the LORD,provokingHim.
He made his sonpassthrough the fire,practicedwitchcraftand useddivination,and dealtwith mediumsand spiritists.He didmuchevilin the sightof the LORDprovoking[Him to anger].
Moreover, he burnedincensein the valleyof Ben-hinnomand burnedhis sonsin fire,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDhad drivenout beforethe sonsof Israel.
"They builtthe highplacesof Baalthat are in the valleyof Ben-hinnomto cause their sonsand their daughtersto passthrough[the fire] to Molech,whichI had not commandedthem norhad it enteredMy mindthat they should dothisabomination,to cause Judahto sin.
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Becauseyour lewdnesswas pouredout and your nakednessuncoveredthrough your harlotrieswith your loversand with allyour detestableidols,and because of the bloodof your sonswhichyou gaveto idols,
and I pronouncedthem uncleanbecause of their gifts,in that they caused alltheir firstbornto passthrough[the fire] sothat I might makethem desolate,in orderthat they might knowthat I am the LORD."'
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"It will comeabout on that day,that thoughtswill comeinto your mindand you will devisean evilplan,
"As for you, O king,[while] on your bedyour thoughtsturnedto whatwould takeplacein the future;and He who revealsmysterieshas madeknownto you whatwill takeplace.
You shall not giveanyof your offspringto offerthem to Molech,norshall you profanethe nameof your God;I am the LORD.
Then it cameabout in the morningthat BalaktookBalaamand broughthim up to the highplacesof Baal,and he sawfrom therea portionof the people.
"You shall not behavethustoward the LORDyour God,for everyabominableactwhichthe LORDhatesthey have donefor their gods;for they evenburntheir sonsand daughtersin the fireto their gods.
