The wordof the LORDcameto me saying,"Whatdo you see,Jeremiah?"And I said,"I seea rodof an almondtree."
Then Jacobtookfreshrodsof poplarand almondand planetrees,and peeledwhitestripesin them, exposingthe whitewhich[was] in the rods.
Sowill My wordbe whichgoesforthfrom My mouth;It will not returnto Me empty,WithoutaccomplishingwhatI desire,And without succeeding[in the matter] for whichI sentit.
Then the LORDsaidto me, "Whatdo you see,Jeremiah?"And I said,"Figs,the goodfigs,verygood;and the bad[figs], verybad,whichcannotbe eatendueto rottenness."
"For I the LORDwill speak,and whateverwordI speakwill be performed.It will nolongerbe delayed,for in your days,O rebellioushouse,I will speakthe wordand performit," declaresthe LordGOD.'"
"Thereforesayto them, 'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Noneof My wordswill be delayedanylonger.WhateverwordI speakwill be performed,"'"declaresthe LordGOD.
Behold,the day!Behold,it is coming![Your] doomhas goneforth;the rodhas budded,arrogancehas blossomed.
The LORDsaidto me, "Whatdo you see,Amos?"And I said,"A plumbline."Then the Lordsaid,"BeholdI am about to puta plumblineIn the midstof My peopleIsrael.I will sparethem nolonger.
He said,"Whatdo you see,Amos?"And I said,"A basketof summerfruit."Then the LORDsaidto me, "The endhas comefor My peopleIsrael.I will sparethem nolonger.
He saidto me, "Whatdo you see?"And I said,"I see,and behold,a lampstandallof goldwith its bowlon the topof it, and its sevenlampson it with sevenspoutsbelonging to each of the lampswhichare on the topof it;
And he saidto me, "Whatdo you see?"And I answered,"I seea flyingscroll;its lengthis twentycubitsand its widthtencubits."
Now on the nextdayMoseswentinto the tentof the testimony;and behold,the rodof Aaronfor the houseof Levihad sproutedand putforthbudsand producedblossoms,and it boreripealmonds.
