"Behold,allof them are false;Their worksare worthless,Their moltenimagesare windand emptiness.
For allthe godsof the peoplesare idols,But the LORDmadethe heavens.
He will not haveregardfor the altars,the workof his hands,Norwill he lookto that whichhis fingershave made,Even the Asherimand incensestands.
Their landhas also been filledwith idols;They worshipthe workof their hands,That whichtheir fingershave made.
and have casttheir godsinto the fire,for they were not godsbut the workof men'shands,woodand stone.So they have destroyedthem.
Behold,you are of noaccount,And your workamounts to nothing;He who choosesyou is an abomination.
"They liftit upon the shoulder[and] carryit; They setit in its placeand it stands[there]. It does not movefrom its place.Thoughone may cryto it, it cannotanswer;It cannotdeliverhim from his distress.
Are thereanyamong the idolsof the nationswho giverain?Orcan the heavensgrantshowers?Is it not You, O LORDour God?Therefore we hopein You, For You are the one who has doneallthesethings.
"The prophetsare [as] wind,And the wordis not in them. Thusit will be doneto them!"
"Whatprofitis the idolwhenits makerhas carvedit, [Or] an image,a teacherof falsehood?For [its] makertrustsin his [own] handiworkWhen he fashionsspeechlessidols.
For the teraphimspeakiniquity,And the divinersseelyingvisionsAnd tellfalse~dreams;They comfortin vain.Therefore[the people] wanderlikesheep,They are afflicted,becausethereis noshepherd.
Now the fivemenwho wentto spyout the landwentup [and] enteredthere,[and] tookthe gravenimageand the ephodand householdidolsand the moltenimage,while the prieststoodby the entranceof the gatewith the sixhundredmenarmedwith weaponsof war.
"You must not turnaside,for [then you would go] afterfutilethingswhichcan not profitor deliver,becausethey are futile.
