Truthfullipswill be establishedforever,But a lyingtongueis onlyfor a moment.
From the fruitof a man'smouthhe enjoysgood,But the desireof the treacherousis violence.
A false witnesswill not gounpunished,And he who tellslieswill not escape.
He who sowsiniquitywill reapvanity,And the rodof his furywill perish.
I againsawunderthe sunthat the raceis not to the swiftand the battleis not to the warriors,and neitheris breadto the wisenorwealthto the discerningnorfavorto men of ability;for timeand chanceovertakethem all.
In the daythat you plant[it] you carefullyfence[it] in, And in the morningyou bringyour seedto blossom;[But] the harvestwill [be] a heapIn a dayof sicklinessand incurablepain.
EphraimsurroundsMe with liesAnd the houseof Israelwith deceit;Judahis alsounrulyagainstGod,Even againstthe HolyOnewho is faithful.
[There is] swearing,deception,murder,stealingand adultery.They employviolence,so that bloodshedfollowsbloodshed.
They feedon the sinof My peopleAnd directtheir desiretowardtheir iniquity.
With their wickednessthey makethe kingglad,And the princeswith their lies.
For they sowthe windAnd they reapthe whirlwind.The standinggrainhasnoheads;It yieldsnograin.Shouldit yield,strangerswould swallowit up.
