Becausethey did not believein GodAnd did not trustin His salvation.
The LORDsaidto Moses,"Howlongwill thispeoplespurnMe? And howlongwill they not believein Me, despite allthe signswhichI have performedin their midst?
shall by nomeansseethe landwhichI sworeto their fathers,norshall anyof those who spurnedMe seeit.
Surelyyou shall not comeinto the landin whichI sworeto settleyou, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
even those menwho broughtout the very badreportof the landdiedby a plaguebeforethe LORD.
But the LORDsaidto Mosesand Aaron,"Becauseyou have not believedMe, to treatMe as holyin the sightof the sonsof Israel,thereforeyou shall not bringthisassemblyinto the landwhichI have giventhem."
"He who believesin the Sonhaseternallife;but he who does not obeythe Sonwill not seelife,but the wrathof Godabideson him."
For justas you oncewere disobedientto God,but nowhave been shown mercybecause of their disobedience,
"When the LORDsentyou from Kadesh-barnea,saying,Goup and possessthe landwhichI have givenyou,' then you rebelledagainstthe commandof the LORDyour God;you neitherbelievedHim norlistenedto His voice.
AS I SWOREIN MY WRATH,'THEY SHALL NOT ENTERMY REST.'"
Thereforelet us be diligentto enterthat rest,sothat noonewill fall,through[following] the sameexampleof disobedience.
For indeedwe have had good news preachedto us, justas they also;but the wordthey hearddid not profitthem, because it was not unitedby faithin thosewhoheard.
Therefore,sinceit remainsfor someto enterit, and thosewhoformerlyhad good news preachedto them failedto enterbecauseof disobedience,
