For whoprovoked[Him] when they had heard?Indeed,did not allthosewhocameout of Egypt[led] by Moses?
Yet they stillcontinuedto sinagainst Him, To rebelagainst the MostHighin the desert.
Howoftenthey rebelledagainst Him in the wildernessAnd grievedHim in the desert!
"The Chaldeanswho are fightingagainstthiscitywill enterand setthiscityon fireand burnit, with the houseswhere[people] have offeredincenseto Baalon their roofsand pouredout drinkofferingsto othergodsto provokeMe to anger.
becauseof their wickednesswhichthey committedso as to provokeMe to angerby continuingto burnsacrifices[and] to serveothergodswhomthey had not known,[neither] they, you, noryour fathers.
provokingMe to angerwith the worksof your hands,burningsacrificesto othergodsin the landof Egypt,whereyou are enteringto reside,sothat you might be cutoffand becomea curseand a reproachamong allthe nationsof the earth?
The LORDsaidto Moses,"Howlongwill thispeoplespurnMe? And howlongwill they not believein Me, despite allthe signswhichI have performedin their midst?
Allthe sonsof IsraelgrumbledagainstMosesand Aaron;and the wholecongregationsaidto them, "Wouldthat we had diedin the landof Egypt!Orwouldthat we had diedin thiswilderness!
"But My servantCaleb,becausehe hashada differentspiritand has followedMe fully,I will bringinto the landwhichhe entered,and his descendantsshall takepossessionof it.
Surelyyou shall not comeinto the landin whichI sworeto settleyou, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
But Joshuathe sonof Nunand Calebthe sonof Jephunnehremainedaliveout of thosemenwho wentto spyout the land.
So they saidto oneanother,"Let us appointa leaderand returnto Egypt."
For the LORDhad saidof them, "They shall surelydiein the wilderness."And not a manwas leftof them, exceptCalebthe sonof Jephunnehand Joshuathe sonof Nun.
Joshuathe sonof Nun,who standsbeforeyou, he shall enterthere;encouragehim, for he will cause Israelto inheritit.
NowI desireto remindyou, though you knowall thingsonce for all,that the Lord,after savinga peopleout of the landof Egypt,subsequentlydestroyedthosewho did not believe.
