But Israelstretchedout his righthandand laidit on the headof Ephraim,whowas the younger,and his lefthandon Manasseh'shead,crossinghis hands,althoughManassehwas the firstborn.
Josephnamedthe firstbornManasseh,"For," [he said], "Godhas made me forgetallmy troubleand allmy father'shousehold."
He namedthe secondEphraim,"For," [he said], "Godhas mademe fruitfulin the landof my affliction."
Now to Josephin the landof Egyptwere bornManassehand Ephraim,whomAsenath,the daughterof Potiphera,priestof On,boreto him.
Josephtookthem both,Ephraimwith his righthandtowardIsrael'sleft,and Manassehwith his lefthandtowardIsrael'sright,and broughtthem closeto him.
When Josephsawthat his fatherlaidhis righthandon Ephraim'shead,it displeasedhim; and he graspedhis father'shandto removeit from Ephraim'sheadto Manasseh'shead.
Josephsaidto his father,"Not so,my father,for thisoneis the firstborn.Placeyour righthandon his head."
The LORDsaysto my Lord:"Sitat My righthandUntilI makeYour enemiesa footstoolfor Your feet."
The righthandof the LORDis exalted;The righthandof the LORDdoesvaliantly.
"Your righthand,O LORD,is majesticin power,Your righthand,O LORD,shattersthe enemy.
"On the westside[shall be] the standardof the campof Ephraimby their armies,and the leaderof the sonsof Ephraim[shall be] Elishamathe sonof Ammihud,
and presentthe Levitesbeforethe LORD;and the sonsof Israelshall laytheir handson the Levites.
"But I have takenthe Levitesinsteadof everyfirstbornamong the sonsof Israel.
"I alsosayto you that you are Peter,and upon thisrockI will buildMy church;and the gatesof Hadeswill not overpowerit.
Then[some] childrenwere broughtto Him sothat He might layHis handson them and pray;and the disciplesrebukedthem.
After layingHis handson them, He departedfrom there.
"Whenyou pray,you are not to be likethe hypocrites;for they loveto standand prayin the synagoguesand on the streetcornerssothat they may be seenby men.TrulyI sayto you, they havetheir rewardin full.
And He laidHis handson her; and immediatelyshe was made erect againand [began] glorifyingGod.
While the sunwas setting,allthose whohadany [who were] sickwith variousdiseasesbroughtthem to Him; and layingHis handson eachoneof them, He was healingthem.
Then,when they had fastedand prayedand laidtheir handson them, they sent them away.
And thesethey broughtbeforethe apostles;and after praying,they laidtheir handson them.
Now Joshuathe sonof Nunwas filledwith the spiritof wisdom,for Moseshad laidhis handson him; and the sonsof Israellistenedto him and didas the LORDhad commandedMoses.
Do not neglectthe spiritual giftwithinyou, whichwas bestowedon you throughprophetic utterancewith the layingon of handsby the presbytery.
Do not layhandsupon anyone[too] hastilyand therebyshare[responsibility for] the sinsof others;keepyourselffree from sin.
