Isaacprayedto the LORDon behalfof his wife,becauseshe was barren;and the LORDansweredhim and Rebekahhis wifeconceived.
Saraiwas barren;she hadnochild.
So Saraisaidto Abram,"Nowbehold,the LORDhas preventedme from bearing[children]. Pleasegoin to my maid;perhapsI will obtainchildrenthroughher." And Abramlistenedto the voiceof Sarai.
Then GodrememberedRachel,and Godgaveheedto her and openedher womb.
They were helpedagainstthem, and the Hagritesand allwho [were] with them were giveninto their hand;for they criedout to Godin the battle,and He answeredtheir prayersbecausethey trustedin Him.
When he prayedto Him, He was movedby his entreatyand heardhis supplication,and broughthim againto Jerusalemto his kingdom.Then Manassehknewthat the LORD[was] God.
So we fastedand soughtour Godconcerningthis[matter], and He listenedto our entreaty.
Behold,childrenare a giftof the LORD,The fruitof the wombis a reward.
He will fulfillthe desireof those who fearHim; He will also heartheir cryand will savethem.
Callupon Me in the dayof trouble;I shall rescueyou, and you will honorMe."
O You who hearprayer,To You allmencome.
"He will callupon Me, and I will answerhim; I will be with him in trouble;I will rescuehim and honorhim.
Whatthe wickedfearswill comeupon him, But the desireof the righteouswill be granted.
Thussaysthe LORD,the HolyOneof Israel,and his Maker:"AskMe aboutthe thingsto comeconcerningMy sons,And you shall committo Me the workof My hands.
"Thenyou will call,and the LORDwill answer;You will cry,and He will say,'HereI am.' Ifyou removethe yokefrom your midst,The pointingof the fingerand speakingwickedness,
"It will also cometo passthat beforethey call,I will answer;and while they are stillspeaking,I will hear.
But the angelsaidto him, "Do not be afraid,Zacharias,for your petitionhas been heard,and your wifeElizabethwill bearyou a son,and you will givehim the nameJohn.
But they hadnochild,becauseElizabethwas barren,and they were bothadvancedin years.
She madea vowand said,"O LORDof hosts,ifYou will indeedlookon the afflictionof Your maidservantand rememberme, and not forgetYour maidservant,but will giveYour maidservanta son,then I will givehim to the LORDallthe daysof his life,and a razorshall nevercomeon his head."
Then Eliansweredand said,"Goin peace;and may the Godof Israelgrantyour petitionthat you have askedof Him."
He had twowives:the nameof onewas Hannahand the nameof the otherPeninnah;and Peninnahhadchildren,but Hannahhadnochildren.
"For thisboyI prayed,and the LORDhas givenme my petitionwhichI askedof Him.
