"Now, girdup your loinsand arise,and speakto them allwhichI commandyou. Do not be dismayedbeforethem, orI will dismayyou beforethem.
But Jonahroseup to fleeto Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.So he wentdownto Joppa,founda shipwhich was goingto Tarshish,paidthe fareand wentdowninto it to gowith them to Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.
Then Godsaidto Jonah,"Do you have goodreasonto be angryaboutthe plant?"And he said,"I have goodreasonto be angry,even to death."
But the LORDsaidto Mosesand Aaron,"Becauseyou have not believedMe, to treatMe as holyin the sightof the sonsof Israel,thereforeyou shall not bringthisassemblyinto the landwhichI have giventhem."
But He turnedand saidto Peter,"GetbehindMe, Satan!You are a stumbling blockto Me; for you are not setting your mindon God'sinterests, but man's."
He broughthim to Jesus.Jesuslookedat him and said,"You are Simonthe sonof John;you shall be calledCephas"(whichis translatedPeter).
So thenthosewho were scatteredbecauseof the persecutionthat occurredin connectionwith Stephenmade their wayto Phoeniciaand Cyprusand Antioch,speakingthe wordto no oneexceptto Jewsalone.
But there were someof them, menof Cyprusand Cyrene,whocameto Antiochand [began] speakingto the Greeksalso,preachingthe LordJesus.
The newsaboutthem reachedthe earsof the churchat Jerusalem,and they sentBarnabasoffto Antioch.
Nowat thistimesome prophetscame downfrom Jerusalemto Antioch.
Some mencame downfrom Judeaand [began] teachingthe brethren,"Unlessyou are circumcisedaccording to the customof Moses,you cannotbe saved."
But someof the sectof the Phariseeswho had believedstoodup, saying,"It is necessaryto circumcisethem and to directthem to observethe Lawof Moses."
For I considermyself not in the leastinferiorto the most eminentapostles.
I have becomefoolish;you yourselvescompelledme. ActuallyI shouldhave been commendedby you, for in norespectwas I inferiorto the most eminentapostles,eventhoughI ama nobody.
Thereforefrom nowon we recognizeno oneaccordingto the flesh;eventhoughwe have knownChristaccordingto the flesh,yetnowwe know[Him] [in this way] no longer.
ThenthreeyearslaterI wentup to Jerusalemto become acquaintedwith Cephas,and stayedwith him fifteendays.
But whenI sawthat they were not straightforwardaboutthe truthof the gospel,I saidto Cephasin the presenceof all,"Ifyou, beinga Jew,livelike the Gentilesand not like the Jews,how[is it that] you compelthe Gentilesto live like Jews?
But we did not yieldin subjectionto them for evenan hour,sothat the truthof the gospelwould remainwith you.
But on the contrary,seeingthat I had been entrustedwith the gospelto the uncircumcised,justas Peter[had been] to the circumcised
and recognizingthe gracethat had been givento me, Jamesand Cephasand John,who were reputedto be pillars,gaveto me and Barnabasthe right handof fellowship,sothat we [might] [go] to the Gentilesand they to the circumcised.
Thosewho continue in sin,rebukein the presenceof all,sothat the restalsowill be fearful[of sinning].
For we allstumblein many[ways]. Ifanyonedoes not stumblein what he says,he is a perfectman,ableto bridlethe wholebodyas well.
Beloved,while I was makingeveryeffortto writeyou aboutour commonsalvation,I feltthe necessityto writeto you appealingthat you contend earnestlyfor the faithwhich was once for allhanded downto the saints.
