He smotethe firstbornof Egypt,Bothof manand beast.
To Him who smotethe Egyptiansin their firstborn,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting,
And smoteallthe firstbornin Egypt,The first[issue] of their virilityin the tentsof Ham.
Mosesand Aaronwentto Pharaohand saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,'Howlongwill you refuseto humbleyourself beforeMe? LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
For ifyou refuseto letMy peoplego,behold,tomorrowI will bringlocustsinto your territory.
and allthe firstbornin the landof Egyptshall die,from the firstbornof the Pharaohwho sitson his throne,evento the firstbornof the slavegirlwhois behindthe millstones;allthe firstbornof the cattleas well.
Now it cameabout at midnightthat the LORDstruckallthe firstbornin the landof Egypt,from the firstbornof Pharaohwho saton his throneto the firstbornof the captivewhowas in the dungeon,and allthe firstbornof cattle.
It cameabout, whenPharaohwas stubbornabout lettingus go,that the LORDkilledeveryfirstbornin the landof Egypt,boththe firstbornof manand the firstbornof beast.Therefore,I sacrificeto the LORDthe males,the firstoffspringof everywomb,but everyfirstbornof my sonsI redeem.'
Mosestoldhis father-in-lawallthat the LORDhad doneto Pharaohand to the Egyptiansfor Israel'ssake,allthe hardshipthat had befallenthem on the journey,and [how] the LORDhad deliveredthem.
"They will payheedto whatyou say;and you with the eldersof Israelwill cometo the kingof Egyptand you will sayto him, 'The LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,has metwith us. So now,please,let us goa threedays'journeyinto the wilderness,that we may sacrificeto the LORDour God.'
And afterwardMosesand Aaroncameand saidto Pharaoh,"Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof Israel,LetMy peoplegothat they may celebratea feastto Me in the wilderness.'"
"Go,tellPharaohkingof Egyptto letthe sonsof Israelgoout of his land."
"You shall sayto him, 'The LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,sentme to you, saying,"LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe in the wilderness.But behold,you have not listeneduntilnow."
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Goto Pharaohand sayto him, 'Thussaysthe LORD,"LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Sayto Aaron,'Stretchout your staffand strikethe dustof the earth,that it may becomegnatsthrough allthe landof Egypt.'"
They didso;and Aaronstretchedout his handwith his staff,and struckthe dustof the earth,and there were gnatson manand beast.Allthe dustof the earthbecamegnatsthrough allthe landof Egypt.
Now the LORDsaidto Moses,"Riseearlyin the morningand presentyourselfbeforePharaoh,as he comesout to the water,and sayto him, 'Thussaysthe LORD,"LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Goto Pharaohand speakto him, 'Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,"LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Riseup earlyin the morningand standbeforePharaohand sayto him, 'Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,"LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
"For ifyou refuseto let[them] goand continueto holdthem,
WhenIsrael[was] a youthI lovedhim, And out of EgyptI calledMy son.
