Hence Godledthe peoplearoundby the wayof the wildernessto the RedSea;and the sonsof Israelwentup in martialarrayfrom the landof Egypt.
Then Josephmade the sonsof Israelswear,saying,"Godwill surelytakecareof you, and you shall carrymy bonesup from here."
He ledthem also by a straightway,To goto an inhabitedcity.
To Him who ledHis peoplethrough the wilderness,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting;
The earthquaked;The heavensalsodropped[rain] at the presenceof God;Sinaiitself[quaked] at the presenceof God,the Godof Israel.
And on that samedaythe LORDbroughtthe sonsof Israelout of the landof Egyptby their hosts.
"Tellthe sonsof Israelto turnbackand campbeforePi-hahiroth,betweenMigdoland the sea;you shall campin frontof Baal-zephon,oppositeit, by the sea.
Then the Egyptianschasedafterthem [with] allthe horses[and] chariotsof Pharaoh,his horsemenand his army,and they overtookthem campingby the sea,besidePi-hahiroth,in frontof Baal-zephon.
"Moreover,he shall not multiplyhorsesfor himself, norshall he cause the peopleto returnto Egyptto multiplyhorses,since the LORDhas saidto you, 'You shall neveragainreturnthat way.'
"He foundhim in a desertland,And in the howlingwasteof a wilderness;He encircledhim, He caredfor him, He guardedhim as the pupilof His eye.
"Your wives,your littleones,and your cattleshall remainin the landwhichMosesgaveyou beyondthe Jordan,but you shall crossbeforeyour brothersin battlearray,allyour valiantwarriors,and shall helpthem,
The sonsof Reubenand the sonsof Gadand the half-tribeof Manassehcrossedoverin battlearraybeforethe sonsof Israel,justas Moseshad spokento them;
about 40,000equippedfor war,crossedfor battlebeforethe LORDto the desertplainsof Jericho.
