When thosericheswere lostthrough a badinvestmentand he had fathereda son,then therewas nothingto supporthim.
He tookaway the treasuresof the houseof the LORDand the treasuresof the king'shouse,and he tookeverything,even takingallthe shieldsof goldwhichSolomonhad made.
He said,"NakedI camefrom my mother'swomb,And nakedI shall returnthere.The LORDgaveand the LORDhas takenaway. Blessedbe the nameof the LORD."
"His harvestthe hungrydevourAnd takeit to a [place of] thorns,And the schemeris eagerfor their wealth.
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
Thoughwhile he liveshe congratulateshimself--And though [men] praiseyou whenyou dowellfor yourself--
When you setyour eyeson it, it is gone.For [wealth] certainlymakesitself wingsLike an eaglethat flies[toward] the heavens.
For to a personwhois goodin His sightHe has givenwisdomand knowledgeand joy,while to the sinnerHe has giventhe taskof gatheringand collectingso that he may giveto onewhois goodin God'ssight.Thistoois vanityand strivingafter wind.
Thereis a grievousevil[which] I have seenunderthe sun:richesbeing hoardedby their ownerto his hurt.
As he had comenakedfrom his mother'swomb,so will he returnas he came.He will takenothingfrom the fruitof his laborthat he can carryin his hand.
"[You] lookfor much,but behold,[it comes] to little;when you bring[it] home,I blowit [away]. Why?"declaresthe LORDof hosts,"Becauseof My housewhich[lies] desolate,while eachof you runsto his own house.
Everyonewho is leftin your housewill comeand bowdownto him for a pieceof silveror a loafof breadand say,"Pleaseassignme to oneof the priest'sofficesso that I may eata pieceof bread."'"
