"When the sungoesdown you shall surelyreturnthe pledgeto him, that he may sleepin his cloakand blessyou; and it will be righteousnessfor you beforethe LORDyour God.
Then he believedin the LORD;and He reckonedit to him as righteousness.
He has givenfreelyto the poor,His righteousnessenduresforever;His hornwill be exaltedin honor.
"Ifyou lendmoneyto My people,to the pooramongyou, you are not to actas a creditorto him; you shall not chargehim interest.
"Thenyour lightwill breakout like the dawn,And your recoverywill speedilyspringforth;And your righteousnesswill gobeforeyou; The gloryof the LORDwill be your rearguard.
oppressesthe poorand needy,commitsrobbery,does not restorea pledge,but liftsup his eyesto the idols[and] commitsabomination,
or oppressanyone,or retaina pledge,or commitrobbery,[but] he giveshis breadto the hungryand coversthe nakedwith clothing,
if a mandoes not oppressanyone, but restoresto the debtorhis pledge,does not commitrobbery,[but] giveshis breadto the hungryand coversthe nakedwith clothing,
[if a] wickedmanrestoresa pledge,paysbackwhathe has takenby robbery,walksby the statuteswhich ensure lifewithoutcommittinginiquity,he shall surelylive;he shall not die.
Therefore,O king,may my advicebe pleasingto you: breakawaynow from your sinsby [doing] righteousnessand from your iniquitiesby showingmercyto [the] poor,in casethere may be a prolongingof your prosperity.'
"On garmentstakenas pledgesthey stretchout besideeveryaltar,And in the houseof their Godthey drinkthe wineof those who have been fined.
BE ANGRY,AND [yet] DO NOT SIN;do not let the sungo downon your anger,
"Ifhe is a poorman,you shall not sleepwith his pledge.
"You shall givehim his wageson his daybefore the sunsets,for he is poorand setshis hearton it; so that he will not cryagainstyou to the LORDand it becomesinin you.
"It will be righteousnessfor us ifwe are carefulto observeallthiscommandmentbeforethe LORDour God,justas He commandedus.
Pureand undefiledreligionin the sightof [our] Godand Fatheris this:to visitorphansand widowsin their distress,[and] to keeponeselfunstainedby the world.
