and the signor the wondercomestrue, concerning whichhe spoketo you, saying,Let us goafterothergods(whomyou have not known)and let us servethem,'
Then he gavea signthe sameday,saying,"Thisis the signwhichthe LORDhas spoken,'Behold,the altarshall be splitapartand the asheswhichare on it shall be pouredout.'"
"Whoeverlieswith an animalshall surelybe putto death.
But the magiciansof Egyptdidthe samewith their secretarts;and Pharaoh'sheartwas hardened,and he did not listento them, as the LORDhad said.
"Behold,I am againstthose who have prophesiedfalse~dreams,"declaresthe LORD,"and relatedthem and ledMy peopleastrayby their falsehoodsand recklessboasting;yet I did not sendthem or commandthem, nordo they furnishthispeoplethe slightestbenefit,"declaresthe LORD.
"But as for you, do not listento your prophets,your diviners,your dreamers,your soothsayersor your sorcererswhospeakto you, saying,'You will not servethe kingof Babylon.'
"The prophetwhoprophesiesof peace,when the wordof the prophetcomesto pass,then that prophetwill be known[as] one whomthe LORDhas trulysent."
For the teraphimspeakiniquity,And the divinersseelyingvisionsAnd tellfalse~dreams;They comfortin vain.Therefore[the people] wanderlikesheep,They are afflicted,becausethereis noshepherd.
"For false Christsand false prophetswill ariseand will showgreatsignsand wonders,soas to mislead,ifpossible,eventhe elect.
some worthlessmenhave goneout from amongyou and have seducedthe inhabitantsof their city,saying,Let us goand serveothergods(whomyou have not known),
"Ifyour brother,your mother'sson,oryour sonordaughter,orthe wifeyou cherish,oryour friendwhois as your own soul,enticeyou secretly,saying,Let us goand serveothergods(whomneitheryou noryour fathershave known,
But the prophetwhospeaksa wordpresumptuouslyin My namewhichI have not commandedhim to speak,or whichhe speaksin the nameof othergods,that prophetshall die.'
"Whena prophetspeaksin the nameof the LORD,if the thingdoes not comeabout or cometrue, that is the thingwhichthe LORDhas not spoken.The prophethas spokenit presumptuously;you shall not be afraidof him.
