Then the malegoatmagnified[himself] exceedingly.But as soon as he was mighty,the largehornwas broken;and in its placethere cameup fourconspicuous[horns] toward the fourwindsof heaven.
But when he becamestrong,his heartwas so proudthat he actedcorruptly,and he was unfaithfulto the LORDhis God,for he enteredthe templeof the LORDto burnincenseon the altarof incense.
Indeed,Mordecaiwas greatin the king'shouse,and his famespreadthroughout allthe provinces;for the manMordecaibecamegreaterand greater.
I will bringupon Elamthe fourwindsFrom the fourendsof heaven,And will scatterthem to allthesewinds;And therewill be nonationTo whichthe outcastsof Elamwill not go.
Like a cagefullof birds,Sotheir housesare fullof deceit;Thereforethey have becomegreatand rich.
"I madeyou numerouslike plantsof the field.Then you grewup, becametalland reachedthe agefor fineornaments;[your] breastswere formedand your hairhad grown.Yet you were nakedand bare.
Will you stillsay,"I am a god,"In the presenceof your slayer,Though you are a manand not God,In the handsof those who woundyou?
"But as soon as he has arisen,his kingdomwill be brokenup and parceledout toward the fourpointsof the compass,though not to his [own] descendants,noraccording to his authoritywhichhe wielded,for his sovereigntywill be uprootedand [given] to othersbesidesthem.
"Whilethe word[was] in the king'smouth,a voicecamefrom heaven,[saying], 'KingNebuchadnezzar,to you it is declared:sovereigntyhas beenremovedfrom you,
"But whenhis heartwas liftedup and his spiritbecameso proudthat he behavedarrogantly,he was deposedfrom his royalthroneand [his] glorywas takenawayfrom him.
Danielsaid,"I was lookingin my visionby night,and behold,the fourwindsof heavenwere stirringup the greatsea.
"AfterthisI keptlooking,and behold,anotherone, like a leopard,whichhad on its backfourwingsof a bird;the beastalso had fourheads,and dominionwas givento it.
"The broken[horn] and the four[horns that] arosein its place[represent] fourkingdoms[which] will arisefrom [his] nation,although not with his power.
While I was observing,behold,a malegoatwas comingfrom the westoverthe surfaceof the wholeearthwithouttouchingthe ground;and the goat[had] a conspicuoushornbetweenhis eyes.
I sawhim comebesidethe ram,and he was enragedat him; and he struckthe ramand shatteredhis twohorns,and the ramhadnostrengthto withstandhim. So he hurledhim to the groundand trampledon him, and there was noneto rescuethe ramfrom his power.
"And He will send forthHis angelswith A GREATTRUMPETand THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHERHis electfrom the fourwinds,from one endof the skyto the other.
"And thenHe will send forththe angels,and will gather togetherHis electfrom the fourwinds,from the farthestendof the earthto the farthest endof heaven.
"For when I bringthem into the landflowingwith milkand honey,whichI sworeto their fathers,and they have eatenand are satisfiedand becomeprosperous,then they will turnto othergodsand servethem, and spurnMe and breakMy covenant.
AfterthisI sawfourangelsstandingat the fourcornersof the earth,holding backthe fourwindsof the earth,sothat nowindwould blowon the earthoron the seaoron anytree.
