I HAVE CERTAINLY SEENTHE OPPRESSIONOF MY PEOPLEIN EGYPTAND HAVE HEARDTHEIR GROANS,AND I HAVE COME DOWNTO RESCUETHEM; COMENOW,AND I WILL SENDYOU TO EGYPT.'
The LORDcamedownto seethe cityand the towerwhichthe sonsof menhad built.
"Come,let Us godownand thereconfusetheir language,sothat they will not understandoneanother'sspeech."
"I will godownnow,and seeif they have doneentirelyaccording to its outcry,which has cometo Me; and ifnot, I will know."
"You sawthe afflictionof our fathersin Egypt,And heardtheir cryby the RedSea.
He sentMosesHis servant,[And] Aaron,whomHe had chosen.
Nevertheless He lookedupon their distressWhen He heardtheir cry;
BowYour heavens,O LORD,and comedown;Touchthe mountains,that they may smoke.
Godsaidto Moses,"I AMWHOI AM";and He said,"Thusyou shall sayto the sonsof Israel,I AMhas sentme to you.'"
So the peoplebelieved;and when they heardthat the LORDwas concernedabout the sonsof Israeland that He had seentheir affliction,then they bowedlowand worshiped.
Oh,that You would rendthe heavens[and] comedown,That the mountainsmight quakeat Your presence--
But by a prophetthe LORDbroughtIsraelfrom Egypt,And by a prophethe was kept.
"Indeed,I broughtyou up from the landof EgyptAnd ransomedyou from the houseof slavery,And I sentbeforeyou Moses,Aaronand Miriam.
"Then I will comedownand speakwith you there,and I will takeof the Spiritwhois upon you, and will put[Him] upon them; and they shall bearthe burdenof the peoplewith you, so that you will not bear[it] all alone.
"No onehas ascendedinto heaven,but He who descendedfrom heaven:the Sonof Man.
"For I have come downfrom heaven,not to doMy ownwill,but the willof Him who sentMe.
Whenthe LORDraisedup judgesfor them, the LORDwas with the judgeand deliveredthem from the handof their enemiesallthe daysof the judge;for the LORDwas movedto pityby their groaningbecauseof those who oppressedand afflictedthem.
