Nevertheless, Davidcapturedthe strongholdof Zion,that is the cityof David.
Davidsaidon that day,"Whoeverwould strikethe Jebusites,let him reachthe lameand the blind,who are hatedby David'ssoul,through the watertunnel."Thereforethey say,"The blindor the lameshall not comeinto the house."
So Davidlivedin the strongholdand calledit the cityof David.And Davidbuiltallaroundfrom the Milloand inward.
And Davidwas unwillingto movethe arkof the LORDinto the cityof Davidwith him; but Davidtookit asideto the houseof Obed-edomthe Gittite.
Now it was toldKingDavid,saying,"The LORDhas blessedthe houseof Obed-edomand allthat belongs to him, on accountof the arkof God."Davidwentand broughtup the arkof Godfrom the houseof Obed-edominto the cityof Davidwith gladness.
Then it happened[as] the arkof the LORDcameinto the cityof Davidthat Michalthe daughterof Saullookedout of the windowand sawKingDavidleapingand dancingbeforethe LORD;and she despisedhim in her heart.
Then Davidsleptwith his fathersand was buriedin the cityof David.
Then Solomonformeda marriagealliancewith Pharaohkingof Egypt,and tookPharaoh'sdaughterand broughther to the cityof Daviduntilhe had finishedbuildinghis own houseand the houseof the LORDand the wallaroundJerusalem.
ThenSolomonassembledthe eldersof Israeland allthe headsof the tribes,the leadersof the fathers'[households] of the sonsof Israel,to KingSolomonin Jerusalem,to bringup the arkof the covenantof the LORDfrom the cityof David,whichis Zion.
As soonas Pharaoh'sdaughtercameup from the cityof Davidto her housewhich[Solomon] had builtfor her, thenhe builtthe Millo.
Then Daviddweltin the stronghold;thereforeit was calledthe cityof David.
They buriedhim in the cityof Davidamongthe kings,becausehe had donewellin Israeland to Godand His house.

For the LORDhas chosenZion;He has desiredit for His habitation.
