Then Davidsaidto Joaband to allthe peoplewhowere with him, "Tearyour clothesand girdon sackclothand lamentbeforeAbner."And KingDavidwalkedbehindthe bier.
Now Reubenreturnedto the pit,and behold,Josephwas not in the pit;so he torehis garments.
So Jacobtorehis clothes,and putsackclothon his loinsand mournedfor his sonmanydays.
Then Davidtookholdof his clothesand torethem, and [so] also[did] allthe menwho[were] with him.
On the thirdday,behold,a mancameout of the campfrom Saul,with his clothestornand duston his head.And it cameabout when he cameto Davidthat he fellto the groundand prostratedhimself.
His servantssaidto him, "Beholdnow,we have heardthat the kingsof the houseof Israelare mercifulkings,pleaselet us putsackclothon our loinsand ropeson our heads,and goout to the kingof Israel;perhapshe will saveyour life."
It cameabout when Ahabheardthesewords,that he torehis clothesand puton sackclothand fasted,and he layin sackclothand wentabout despondently.
And when KingHezekiahheard[it], he torehis clothes,coveredhimself with sackclothand enteredthe houseof the LORD.
Then he sentEliakimwhowas overthe householdwith Shebnathe scribeand the eldersof the priests,coveredwith sackcloth,to Isaiahthe prophetthe sonof Amoz.
And He cameup and touchedthe coffin;and the bearerscame to a halt.And He said,"Young man,I sayto you, arise!"
Then Joshuatorehis clothesand fellto the earthon his facebeforethe arkof the LORDuntilthe evening,[both] he and the eldersof Israel;and they putduston their heads.
"And I will grant[authority] to my twowitnesses,and they will prophesyfor twelvehundredand sixtydays,clothedin sackcloth."
When he sawher, he torehis clothesand said,"Alas,my daughter!You have broughtme verylow,and you are among those who troubleme; for I have givenmy wordto the LORD,and I cannottake[it] back."
