Therefore he saidto his servants,"See,Joab'sfieldis nextto mine, and he has barleythere;goand setit on fire."So Absalom'sservantssetthe fieldon fire.
And tenyoungmenwho carriedJoab'sarmorgatheredaroundand struckAbsalomand killedhim.
The kingchargedJoaband Abishaiand Ittai,saying,"[Deal] gentlyfor my sake with the youngmanAbsalom."And allthe peopleheardwhen the kingchargedallthe commandersconcerningAbsalom.
Then it was toldJoab,"Behold,the kingis weepingand mournsfor Absalom."
Then KingDavidsentto Zadokand Abiatharthe priests,saying,"Speakto the eldersof Judah,saying,'Whyare you the lastto bringthe kingbackto his house,since the wordof allIsraelhas cometo the king,[even] to his house?
That the triumphingof the wickedis short,And the joyof the godlessmomentary?
I have seena wicked,violentmanSpreadinghimself like a luxurianttreein its nativesoil.
Your arrowsare sharp;The peoplesfallunderYou; [Your arrows are] in the heartof the King'senemies.
for justas JONAHWAS THREEDAYSAND THREENIGHTSIN THE BELLYOF THE SEA MONSTER,sowill the Sonof Manbe threedaysand threenightsin the heartof the earth.
