"Of Jezebelalsohas the LORDspoken,saying,The dogswill eatJezebelin the districtof Jezreel.'
Do not desireher beautyin your heart,Norlet her captureyou with her eyelids.
And behold,a woman[comes] to meethim, Dressedas a harlotand cunningof heart.
And you, O desolateone, whatwill you do?Althoughyou dressin scarlet,Althoughyou decorate[yourself with] ornamentsof gold,Althoughyou enlargeyour eyeswith paint,In vainyou makeyourself beautiful.[Your] loversdespiseyou; They seekyour life.
"Furthermore,they have evensentfor menwho comefrom afar,to whoma messengerwas sent;and lo,they came--for whomyou bathed,paintedyour eyesand decoratedyourselveswith ornaments;
"Groansilently;makenomourningfor the dead.Bindon your turbanand putyour shoeson your feet,and do not cover[your] mustacheand do not eatthe breadof men."
Your adornmentmust not be [merely] external--braidingthe hair,and wearinggold jewelry,orputtingon dresses;
Now the Philistinesgatheredtogether alltheir armiesto Aphek,while the Israeliteswere campingby the springwhichis in Jezreel.
