Now Elishathe prophetcalledoneof the sonsof the prophetsand saidto him, "Girdup your loins,and takethisflaskof oilin your handand goto Ramoth-gilead.
Zadokthe priestthen tookthe hornof oilfrom the tentand anointedSolomon.Then they blewthe trumpet,and allthe peoplesaid,"[Long] liveKingSolomon!"
Then the handof the LORDwas on Elijah,and he girdedup his loinsand outranAhabto Jezreel.
and Jehuthe sonof Nimshiyou shall anointkingoverIsrael;and Elishathe sonof Shaphatof Abel-meholahyou shall anointas prophetin your place.
Now a certainmanof the sonsof the prophetssaidto anotherby the wordof the LORD,"Pleasestrikeme." But the manrefusedto strikehim.
"The LORDsaid,'Whowill enticeAhabto goup and fallat Ramoth-gilead?'And onesaidthiswhile anothersaidthat.
And he saidto Jehoshaphat,"Will you gowith me to battleat Ramoth-gilead?"And Jehoshaphatsaidto the kingof Israel,"I am as you are, my peopleas your people,my horsesas your horses."
Now when the sonsof the prophetswho[were] at Jerichoopposite[him] sawhim, they said,"The spiritof Elijahrestson Elisha."And they cameto meethim and bowedthemselves to the groundbefore him.
Then the sonsof the prophetswho[were at] Bethelcameout to Elishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he said,"Yes,I know;be still."
The sonsof the prophetswho[were] at JerichoapproachedElishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he answered,"Yes,I know;be still."
Now fiftymenof the sonsof the prophetswentand stoodopposite[them] at a distance,while the twoof them stoodby the Jordan.
Now a certainwomanof the wivesof the sonsof the prophetscriedout to Elisha,"Your servantmy husbandis dead,and you knowthat your servantfearedthe LORD;and the creditorhas cometo takemy twochildrento be his slaves."
Then he saidto Gehazi,"Girdup your loinsand takemy staffin your hand,and goyour way; ifyou meetanyman,do not salutehim, and ifanyonesalutesyou, do not answerhim; and laymy staffon the lad'sface."
So the youngman,the servantof the prophet,wentto Ramoth-gilead.
Then the inhabitantsof JerusalemmadeAhaziah,his youngestson,kingin his place,for the bandof men who camewith the Arabsto the camphad slainallthe older[sons]. So Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahbegan to reign.
He alsowalkedaccording to their counsel,and wentwith Jehoramthe sonof Ahabkingof Israelto wagewaragainstHazaelkingof Aramat Ramoth-gilead.But the ArameanswoundedJoram.
"Now, girdup your loinsand arise,and speakto them allwhichI commandyou. Do not be dismayedbeforethem, orI will dismayyou beforethem.
a womancameto Him with an alabaster vialof very costlyperfume,and she pouredit on His headas He reclined[at the table].
"Now,O Israel,listento the statutesand the judgmentswhichI am teachingyou to perform,sothat you may liveand goin and takepossessionof the landwhichthe LORD,the Godof your fathers,is givingyou.
"Your eyeshave seenwhatthe LORDhas donein the case of Baal-peor,for allthe menwhofollowedBaal-peor,the LORDyour Godhas destroyedthem from amongyou.
Therefore,prepareyour mindsfor action, keep sober[in spirit], fix your hopecompletelyon the graceto be broughtto you at the revelationof JesusChrist.
Then Samueltookthe flaskof oil,pouredit on his head,kissedhim and said,"Has not the LORDanointedyou a ruleroverHis inheritance?
Now the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Howlongwill you grieveoverSaul,since I have rejectedhim from beingkingoverIsrael?Fillyour hornwith oiland go;I will sendyou to Jessethe Bethlehemite,for I have selecteda kingfor Myself among his sons."
