When he had takenhim and broughthim to his mother,he saton her lapuntilnoon,and [then] died.
He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."
Now IsraellovedJosephmorethanallhis sons,becausehe was the sonof his oldage;and he madehim a varicoloredtunic.
Then Josephhada dream,and when he toldit to his brothers,they hatedhim evenmore.
Now it cameabout afterthesethingsthat the sonof the woman,the mistressof the house,becamesick;and his sicknesswas soseverethat there was nobreathleftin him.
He saidto his father,"My head,my head."And he saidto his servant,"Carryhim to his mother."
She wentup and laidhim on the bedof the manof God,and shut[the door] behindhim and wentout.
"Can a womanforgether nursingchildAnd havenocompassionon the sonof her womb?Eventhesemay forget,but I will not forgetyou.
"As onewhomhis mothercomforts,soI will comfortyou; And you will be comfortedin Jerusalem."
and a swordwill pierceevenyour ownsoul--to the endthat thoughtsfrom manyheartsmay be revealed."
Nowas He approachedthe gateof the city,a deadman was being carriedout, the onlysonof his mother,and she was a widow;and a sizeablecrowdfrom the citywas with her.
SoJesusthensaidto them plainly,"Lazarusis dead,
Sothe sisterssent[word] to Him, saying,"Lord,behold,he whomYou loveis sick."
NowJesuslovedMarthaand her sisterand Lazarus.
