It cameabout as he was worshipingin the houseof Nisrochhis god,that Adrammelechand Sharezerkilledhim with the sword;and they escapedinto the landof Ararat.And Esarhaddonhis sonbecamekingin his place.
Perhapsthe LORDyour Godwill hearallthe wordsof Rabshakeh,whomhis masterthe kingof Assyriahas sentto reproachthe livingGod,and will rebukethe wordswhichthe LORDyour Godhas heard.Therefore, offera prayerfor the remnantthat is left.'"
So it will be that whenthe Lordhas completedallHis workon MountZionand on Jerusalem,[He will say], "I will punishthe fruitof the arrogantheartof the kingof Assyriaand the pompof his haughtiness."
Now in that daythe remnantof Israel,and those of the houseof Jacobwhohave escaped,will neveragainrelyon the one who struckthem, but will trulyrelyon the LORD,the HolyOneof Israel.
