When Athaliahthe motherof Ahaziahsawthat her sonwas dead,she roseand destroyedallthe royaloffspring.
"SurelyI will requireyour lifeblood;from everybeastI will requireit. And from [every] man,from everyman'sbrotherI will requirethe lifeof man.
"Whoever shedsman'sblood,By manhis bloodshall be shed,For in the imageof GodHe mademan.
"So nowcome,pleaselet me giveyou counseland saveyour lifeand the lifeof your sonSolomon.
The kingalso saidto Shimei,"You knowallthe evilwhichyou acknowledgein your heart,whichyou didto my fatherDavid;therefore the LORDshall returnyour evilon your own head.
Now the timewhichJehureignedoverIsraelin Samaria[was] twenty-eightyears.
When the lettercameto them, they tookthe king'ssonsand slaughtered[them], seventypersons,and puttheir headsin baskets,and sent[them] to him at Jezreel.

Ahaziah[was] twenty-twoyearsoldwhen he becameking,and he reignedoneyearin Jerusalem.And his mother'sname[was] Athaliahthe granddaughterof Omrikingof Israel.
When Ahaziahthe kingof Judahsaw[this], he fledby the wayof the gardenhouse.And Jehupursuedhim and said,"Shoothim too,in the chariot."[So they shot him] at the ascentof Gur,whichis at Ibleam.But he fledto Megiddoand diedthere.
For the sonsof the wickedAthaliahhad brokeninto the houseof Godand evenusedthe holythingsof the houseof the LORDfor the Baals.
In the seventhmonthIshmaelthe sonof Nethaniah,the sonof Elishama,of the royalfamilyand [one] of the chiefofficersof the king,along with tenmen,cameto Mizpahto Gedaliahthe sonof Ahikam.While they were eatingbreadtogethertherein Mizpah,
Nowwhen they had gone,behold,an angelof the Lordappearedto Josephin a dreamand said,"Getup! Takethe Childand His motherand fleeto Egypt,and remainthereuntilI tellyou; for Herodis goingto searchfor the Childto destroyHim."
Thenwhen Herodsawthat he had been trickedby the magi,he became veryenraged,and sentand slewallthe male childrenwho were in Bethlehemand allits vicinity,from two years oldand under,accordingto the timewhichhe had determinedfrom the magi.
Then he wentto his father'shouseat Ophrahand killedhis brothersthe sonsof Jerubbaal,seventymen,on onestone.But Jothamthe youngestsonof Jerubbaalwas left,for he hidhimself.
