The angelof the LORDsaidto Elijah,"Godownwith him; do not be afraidof him." So he aroseand wentdownwith him to the king.
"I, even I, am He who comfortsyou. Whoare you that you are afraidof manwho diesAnd of the sonof manwho is madelike grass,
"And you, sonof man,neitherfearthem norfeartheir words,thoughthistlesand thornsare with you and you siton scorpions;neitherfeartheir wordsnorbe dismayedat their presence,for they are a rebellioushouse.
"Now, girdup your loinsand arise,and speakto them allwhichI commandyou. Do not be dismayedbeforethem, orI will dismayyou beforethem.
"Do not fearthosewho killthe bodybut are unableto killthe soul;but ratherfearHim who is ableto destroybothsouland bodyin hell.
"Then I will makeyou to thispeopleA fortifiedwallof bronze;And though they fightagainstyou, They will not prevailover you; For I am with you to saveyou And deliveryou," declaresthe LORD.
The LORDis my lightand my salvation;Whomshall I fear?The LORDis the defenseof my life;Whomshall I dread?
But the angelof the LORDsaidto Elijahthe Tishbite,"Arise,goup to meetthe messengersof the kingof Samariaand sayto them, 'Is it becausethereis noGodin Israel[that] you are goingto inquireof Baal-zebub,the godof Ekron?'
Elijahsaid,"As the LORDof hostslives,beforewhomI stand,I will surelyshowmyself to him today."
Afterthesethingsthe wordof the LORDcameto Abramin a vision,saying,"Do not fear,Abram,I am a shieldto you; Your rewardshall be verygreat."
By faithhe leftEgypt,not fearingthe wrathof the king;for he endured,as seeingHim who is unseen.
"Beholdfirecamedownfrom heavenand consumedthe firsttwocaptainsof fiftywith their fifties;but nowlet my lifebe preciousin your sight."
