Zabadhis son,Shuthelahhis son,and Ezerand Eleadwhom the menof Gathwho were bornin the landkilled,becausethey camedownto taketheir livestock.
Gooverto Calnehand look,And gofrom thereto Hamaththe great,Then godownto Gathof the Philistines.Are they betterthanthesekingdoms,Oris their territorygreaterthanyours?

The borderproceededto the sideof Ekronnorthward.Then the bordercurvedto Shikkeronand continuedto MountBaalahand proceededto Jabneel,and the borderendedat the sea.
Then a championcameout from the armiesof the PhilistinesnamedGoliath,from Gath,whose heightwas sixcubitsand a span.
The menof Israeland Judaharoseand shoutedand pursuedthe Philistinesas faras the valley,and to the gatesof Ekron.And the slainPhilistineslayalong the wayto Shaaraim,even to Gathand Ekron.
Then AchishcalledDavidand saidto him, "[As] the LORDlives,you [have been] upright,and your goingout and your comingin with me in the armyare pleasingin my sight;for I have not foundevilin you from the dayof your comingto me to thisday.Nevertheless, you are not pleasingin the sightof the lords.

When the menof Ashdodsawthat it was so,they said,"The arkof the Godof Israelmust not remainwith us, for His handis severeon us and on Dagonour god."
And the Philistinescalledfor the priestsand the diviners,saying,"Whatshall we dowith the arkof the LORD?Tellus howwe shall sendit to its place."
